Ampeloeis Silver

Silver is a sublime and sophisticated wine, crafted from a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, grown in two distinct vineyards in Kavala, Greece.
The Cabernet Sauvignon grapes are sourced from the elevated Melissa region, while the Merlot grapes are grown in the high altitude Folia area, both with rocky, clayey soil that lends a unique mineral complexity to the wine.
The Mediterranean climate of the region with mild winters and cool summers is also ideal for the slow and optimal ripening of these grapes.
The classic red vinification of Silver 2018 is carefully done over 6 days, resulting in a wine with intense and rich flavors that are well-balanced and structured. The wine is then matured with three different techniques, 40% in 225-liter French oak barrels, 30% in tank, and the remaining 30% in 4-ton French oak barrels, for a period of 12 months.
Finally, the wine is aged for 4 months in the bottle to enhance its complexity and character. Upon pouring, Silver 2018 exudes a beautiful deep ruby color that sparkles in the light. Its aroma is complex and captivating, with distinct notes of black fruits, chocolate, and toasted bread that reveal the wine’s full body and aging potential. On the palate, Silver 2018 is delicate and well-balanced, showcasing a unique mineral complexity that is typical of the Kavala terroir.
Its tannins are velvety and smooth, leading to a long and satisfying finish that lingers on the tongue. In summary, Silver is a classic aged wine that embodies the best of winemaking traditions. Its structure is well-balanced, making it a perfect pairing for a variety of hearty dishes such as grilled meats, stews, and roasted vegetables. With its refined and sophisticated character, Silver 2018 is a wine that demands attention and respect, perfect for special occasions or for savoring on its own.
